Advanced Tech Pack

A advanced tech pack should comprise of 4 main things:

 

 

Digital Illustration 

 

This would present itself in the form of a front and back black and white linear image of the design. At this stage it doesn’t have to be a beautiful artist drawing contrary to what most believe. In fact this is the least helpful at this stage. The digital linear drawing, if done correctly, will clearly communicate to the client and the sample maker, pattern cutter or factory, exactly how the end product is meant to look form a detail and proportion point of view. At this stage , it is unlikely that there is a physical garment that has been created that represents the final design to its fullest, so the illustration will communicate all the relevant seams, stitching, pockets, trims, gathers, folds, pleats and hems etc. In most cases, without this I can guarantee that what the sample maker, pattern cutter or factory, is go

 

Measurement Chart 

 

A measurement chart is a list of measurements that is specific to the garment. a measurement chart can include up to 30 different measurements of key points of the garment such as garment length shoulder chest crotch sleeve hip thigh bicep and so on. The purpose of these measurements help the factory and the sample make up to maintain quality control during, making and production. it is ideal that there are as many measurements taken as possible however there has to be at least some level of tolerance in those measurements normally within the region of 3 to 5% when doing quality-control.

 

Construction Notes & Annotation 

 

These are referring to notes that are specific to the design construction such as the choice of machines the stitch types the detail type so might be a certain type of pocket I’m a certain type of finish in a certain type of semen and then certain details such as maybe bar tax which require specialist specialist machinery. Have a good construction notes as is also a good way for the factory to identify whether or not they can take on that project as certain finishes require certain specific machines which they either have or they don’t. Additionally within the construction notes it might refer to additional details like prints and embroidery.
